A murder investigation has been launched after police believe a man was killed in a “targeted attack” outside his home in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.
John Taylor, 44, was found seriously injured outside his home in Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on Friday, Police Scotland said.
Many people tried to help him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
DCI Graham McCready, of the Western Major Investigation Team, said: “Based on our investigation to date, we believe this was a targeted attack and our dedicated team of officers are working to track down the perpetrators as soon as possible.” said.
“I have already spoken to a number of people who came to Mr Taylor’s aid until the ambulance arrived and I would like to thank them for their support.
“However, we would like to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything suspicious. “If you would like to help, please contact officers.”
“Any information could prove important in getting answers for Mr. Taylor’s family.
“We would also urge anyone who had dashcams in Pollock Crescent and the surrounding area to review their footage as it may have captured something important to our investigation.”
It also expressed its condolences to Taylor's family and friends, adding: “They are being supported by specially trained police officers and we ask that their privacy be respected.”
