Murdered Israeli Hostages Were Found in Tunnel Under Children’s Room

The six Israeli hostages whose bodies were found on Saturday were killed by Hamas in a tunnel beneath a children's room in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip, a shaft that was surrounded by stuffed toys and Disney cartoons.

Wednesday's revelations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are just the latest shocking details about the horrific conditions in which the hostages were held, and how Hamas terrorists abused children as human shields.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement:

The shaft leading to the tunnel where the bodies of hostages Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Porin, Alex Lobanov, Almog Sarsi and MSG Oli Danino were taken was located next to a children's playground filled with stuffed animals and murals of cartoon characters.

Forces from the 162nd Division and ISA discovered a shaft leading to a tunnel in an area that was surrounded by enemies and widely bombed, a further example of Hamas exploiting civilian areas to take hostages and carry out terrorist activities.

IDF soldiers frequently find tunnel shafts in children's rooms in the Gaza Strip, and weapons stored near schools.

There is evidence that the hostages were starving: One hostage, 24-year-old Eden Yerushalmi, was found to have weighed just 79 pounds at the time of his death, having lost 22 pounds during his 11 months of captivity.
