DPS Special Agents and officers assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center in Houston worked with Baytown police officers to take 62-year-old Servando Trejo Duran Jr. into custody. Following the arrest in Baytown, officers booked the felon, an illegal immigrant of Mexican nationality, into the Chambers County Jail.
According to the Public Security Bureau:
Duran is a criminal illegal immigrant of Mexican origin with ties to eastern Harris County, including the cities of Baytown and Deer Park, Texas. In 1980, Duran was arrested by the Baytown Police Department on suspicion of burglary and subsequently received 10 years of probation. In 1986, Duran was convicted of murder in Harris County and subsequently received a life sentence. He was paroled by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in January 2009 and deported from the United States later that year. In February 2023, Duran was arrested by the Deer Park Police Department on suspicion of tampering with government records and released on bail. On March 1, 2023, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued an arrest warrant for parole violation (original crime: murder with a deadly weapon).
The State of Texas had offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Duran’s arrest, but because investigators found Duran without a tip from the public, no reward will be paid for this arrest.
Authorities have not yet announced who will replace Duran on the list of most wanted criminal illegal immigrants.
Governor Abbott on Wednesday announced the creation of a list of the 10 most wanted criminal illegal immigrants in Texas, Breitbart Texas reported.
“Since taking office, President Joe Biden has repealed every effective border policy implemented by his predecessor,” Abbott said in a statement Wednesday. “As a result, we have seen record levels of illegal immigration, including dangerous criminals and terrorists who threaten the public safety of our state and nation.”
