Musician Nick Cave said in an interview last week that he would perform in Israel, condemning Pink Floyd guitarist Roger Waters' “shameful” anti-Israel stance, and adding that a cultural boycott would not create change.
Cave spoke to Reason.com's Nick Gillespie during a recent podcast.

“I'm just not a friend of the Israeli government, but I don't feel comfortable using my music to punish ordinary people for the actions of their government. To some extent, that's what it is,” he said. reason The podcast episode was released on August 28th.
Cave also recalled finding inspiration from a trip to Israel.
“This is a place where you can stand on the Sea of Galilee and go to the spot where Christ was supposedly crucified… this was very exciting. Gillespie said Cave, who has a history of championing freedom of expression, still listens to Kanye West's gospel music despite West's anti-Semitism, but described West as a “broken, messed up human being.”
Cave added that he personally has a “particular problem with anti-Semitism” and said Waters and her anti-Semitism were “a huge embarrassment to the boycott movement.”
He added that efforts to boycott Israel “only embolden the worst aspects” of the Israeli government, which is using the boycott effort to reinforce its “isolationist” stance.
