Musk reacts after Mehdi Hasan suggests the next Democratic president should take legal action against him.

Tesla’s Elon Musk took aim at journalist Mehdi Hasan following Hasan’s assertion that upcoming Democratic presidential hopefuls should consider running on a platform that includes legal action against him.

“I think the next Democratic president has to be ruthless,” Hasan mentioned in an interview with Zeteo Weekly. He emphasized the need for candidates in the 2028 Democratic primaries who are not just about positive change but are also willing to penalize individuals who, in his view, have undermined democracy and society.

Hasan dismissed worries about alleged fraud related to Minnesota’s Somali community as “nonsense,” suggesting that such fears were inflated by social media, indirectly pointing a finger at Musk.

In a discussion on Twitter, Hasan recalled a prior comment about the Democratic candidate who could easily lead the polls if they promised to prosecute Musk upon taking office. “Maybe I’m saying this half-jokingly,” he noted, but seemed serious in his belief that such a stance would resonate with voters.

Musk, in response, added a sarcastic remark about how those who support free speech appear to be viewed as guilty in some circles.

Hasan further defended his position by arguing that the politicization of the judicial process is already a reality. “That ship has sailed,” he remarked, countering any claims that raising this issue is itself political. He advocated for accountability, challenging past administrations for their reluctance to hold previous leaders accountable for their actions.

Looking ahead, Hasan urged that any future Democratic president needs to approach their responsibilities with a clear plan for accountability, almost as if instilling fear in their political opponents. It’s clear that he believes a tough, no-nonsense approach is necessary for the future of the party.
