According to Watchdog Group, Muslim charities with links to Hamas have been awarded more than $7.2 million in taxpayer cash.
According to WatchDog, which sent a complaint to the Department of Justice on Thursday, “immediate investigation” must begin to use funds from the Council on Relations between the US and Muslims (CAIR) California chapter, according to WatchDog.
According to Intelligent Advocacy Network (Ian), a California-based nonpartisan advocacy group, between 2022 and 2024, money was given to this chapter to help resettle poor immigrants in California.
In what appears to be a determined hand, the complaint said the decisive hand of money ($7,217,968.44) was sent to Cair-Greater Los Angeles and Cair-ca.
The Los Angeles chapter of a Muslim organization not qualifies for processing charitable contributions, not a registered nonprofit organization, received an entire pot of money. Complaint, View in posts.
“These sub-grants from Cair-Ca to the Cair chapter raise serious legal concerns about whether Cair simply shifted more money to itself,” the complaint states.
It also appeared that Kea Los Angeles would split federal grants and “subgrelts” into other groups that include the San Diego and San Francisco care chapters.
These Cair chapters are not registered with the IRS and once you receive cash, you have no public responsibility to declare where it is being used.
“There's no transparency,” said Julie Malzuk, a founding board member of Ian, who washed away public documents to track cash.
“This is part of a consistent pattern from care: it litters water and limits the public's ability to track money.”
Marzouk and her group have asked the federal government to revoke Cair-Ca's certification, which requires grants to be received under the DOJ refugee program.
The accreditation allows the group to represent low-income immigrants in front of federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security without a lawyer, Marzouk told the Post.
“It's a privilege, not a right, and the group must follow the appropriate rules of conduct,” she said.
Spreading money across subgroups is not illegal, but Cair-Ca is supposed to explain where the dollar is heading.
CAIR-CA certification expired last month, and according to the complaint, it must be renewed if you wish to continue receiving funds.
“[CAIR’s] Misuse of federal grant funding and support to Hamas, a US-designated foreign terrorist organization, does not meet the ethical and legal requirements required for EOIR. [Executive Office of Immigration Review] The complaint stated.
“A formal forensic audit followed by an appropriate DOJ investigation is required to assess the full scope of CAIR-CA's financial misconduct, compliance unity and support for terrorism.”
Cair did not respond to requests to post comments.
Ian also wants a $2.6 million survey received by CAIR-CA from California's Department of Human Services in 2022 for funding the state's “Stop Hate” program.
The grant was awarded to Cair “omitting California,” the complaint said, adding that the state is confused, saying it “sought clarification of the entity name.”
In California, Cair leaders are opposed to Holocaust education in the Senate and are calling for anti-Israel measures such as boycotts at the mayoral level, Marzouk said.
Some Sair leaders praised the terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7th. Zahra Billoo, executive director of Cair in San Francisco, has minimized Hamas' atrocities against Israelis, and the world is “With witnessing decolonization” According to the Prevention Measures League.
In an earlier statement, Billu warned about Jewish organizations.
“We need to pay attention to the prevention league,” Billu said. During a 2021 panel discussion sponsored by American Muslims for Palestine.
“We need to pay attention to the Jewish Federation. We need to pay attention to the Zionist synagogue. We need to pay attention to the Hillel chapter on campus, just because we are your friend today. It doesn't mean they have your back when it comes to human rights.”
Hussam Ayloush, executive director of Cair-Ca, said Israel has no right to defend itself after October 7th, but Palestinians have the right to “pick up weapons.”
In January he concluded his sermon in Los Angeles. Middle East Media Research Institute.
Last month, the Post revealed that Cair Inc., the national branch of Muslim charity, had resolved a lawsuit brought on by former board members and employees, rather than opening a book to reveal foreign funding sources.
Evidence in previous court proceedings provides a link between the Foundation Council of the US and the Islamic Relations Foundation and Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Cair Inc. settled with Lori Saroya months after Judge David Schultz determined that all assets owned by the group were within the “scope of acceptable discoveries” as part of a lawsuit against the controversial Muslim rights group.
