My Community Appreciates Trump for Upholding Immigration Laws While Biden Encouraged Illegal Immigrants

Zarna Garg, an Indian-American comedian, claims many in her community back President Donald Trump due to Biden’s significant immigration missteps.

Originally from Bombay, Garg moved to the U.S. as a teenager to escape an arranged marriage. On the “Daily Beast” podcast with Joanna Coles, she noted that very few Indian immigrants arrive illegally. This has led to frustration among Indians, especially since many have been waiting years to immigrate legally to the United States.

“When it comes to immigration, the majority of Indians in the U.S. are legal immigrants, meaning they endure a lengthy process of applications and verifications. The issue of illegal immigration never really affected us, but we were baffled by what was happening under Biden,” she explained.

She expressed disbelief that many Democrats appear not to take illegal immigration seriously.

“It’s perplexing. Any Indian will tell you they have family members waiting in line for over 15 years because they believe in doing things the right way. Yet, it seemed like the lawbreakers were the ones getting the attention,” she added.

The comedian acknowledged that while she thinks Trump’s immigration policies have flaws, she believes his concerns are valid.

“Yes, there are issues with his approach, but the problems he highlights are real. Ignoring them won’t make them disappear,” she said.

Garg also criticized Biden’s immigration record.

“During Biden’s time, we in the immigrant community worked hard to secure work visas, and yet there was chaos at the southern and northern borders,” she lamented.

She pointed out that many Europeans were equally puzzled by Biden’s failure to secure the borders. “They were asking, ‘What’s happening at the border? You can’t just walk into Switzerland,’” she remarked. “You can’t just stroll into Canada either. Entering a country isn’t that simple,” she added.

“The Indian community supports Trump. Simply put, we don’t share the same concerns about him as many others in the U.S.,” she stated.

Having studied law, Garg became a personal injury lawyer after becoming a U.S. citizen. However, she gained recognition at 44 when her family encouraged her to pursue stand-up comedy, which she approached with a humorous perspective on her Indian-American experience. She has since amassed 2.9 million followers on TikTok and has performed on stages throughout New York.

Garg has released two comedy specials and was an opening act for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in 2023. She also authored a best-selling memoir titled This American Woman.
