‘My Son’s Done Nothing Wrong. I Trust Him’

President Joe Biden maintained that his son, Hunter Biden, “did nothing wrong” during an MSNBC interview in 2023. A jury found Hunter guilty of three firearms violations on Tuesday.

Joe Biden insisted last week that his son would not receive a presidential pardon.

A conviction could carry a sentence of 25 years in prison.

“Sir, you have a personal problem. Your son [are] It has nothing to do with you— [he] “You could be facing indictments from the Department of Justice. How would that impact your presidency?” MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle asked Joe Biden in 2023.

“First of all, my son has done nothing wrong. I trust him. I have confidence in him. And that makes me proud of him and that impacts my position as president,” the president responded.

Joe Biden also claimed on October 11, 2022 that he knew nothing about Hunter’s “ideas on guns” and said he had a lot of confidence in his son.

“By the way, I didn’t know anything about this gun thing,” Joe Biden said. Said CNN. “But when he applied to buy a gun, he was asked, ‘Are you taking or using drugs?’ and he answered, ‘No.’ And he wrote about saying, ‘No,’ in the book.”

“So I have confidence in my son,” Joe Biden added.

A Delaware jury deliberated for just a few hours before finding Hunter guilty of all three firearms-related charges. The historic verdict against the president’s son reflects Hunter’s big gamble by not accepting an amended plea deal offered to him in the summer of 2023 and instead going to trial.

In 2023, Hunter refused to accept a plea deal from prosecutors after negotiations broke down under judicial review of a “diversion agreement.”

The original “Sweetheart” plea bargain Gave Hunter was given the option of probation rather than prison after pleading guilty to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018. In addition, the government devised a separate diversion agreement that gives Hunter immunity from potential future charges, including: wipe Felony firearm violations were removed from his record.

The government subsequently indicted Hunter on a California tax evasion charge, with a trial scheduled for September.
