Aaron Rodgers Joins the Pittsburgh Steelers: A New Chapter Begins
Aaron Rodgers is feeling pretty enthusiastic about joining the Pittsburgh Steelers after a lengthy offseason. He’s finally signed with the team, marking a significant moment in his career.
Interestingly, he’s not the only one buzzing about this move. Miles Garrett, the standout edge rusher for the Cleveland Browns, has some thoughts on Rodgers’ arrival in their division. “What do I think about that?” Garrett said, teasingly at a recent minicamp. “I think it’s a great opportunity to let him go into the cemetery.”
This comment hints at Garrett’s intent on getting to Rodgers when their teams clash later this season. He even has this ongoing theme where he sets up a gravestone on Halloween for quarterbacks who have had a rough go in their careers. It’s a bit dark, but hey, it’s football, right?
Rodgers, who holds an impressive record of being sacked 571 times in 248 career games, has a bit of history with Garrett. They’ve faced each other only once before, back in the 2021 season when Rodgers was still with the Green Bay Packers. That game ended in a narrow 24-22 win for the Packers, and Garrett didn’t get a chance to take him down back then.
Now, the 41-year-old, four-time MVP has inked a one-year deal with the Steelers worth about $13.65 million. This is somewhat of a comeback for him after a difficult season with the New York Jets, where he suffered a torn Achilles in the very first week. Last year, despite the injury, he managed to throw for nearly 3,900 yards along with 28 touchdowns.
It’s noteworthy that the Browns had their own struggles last season. Their quarterback, Deshaun Watson, also faced injuries, leading the team to a disappointing record of 3-14. Garrett, however, shined individually, making the Pro Bowl for the sixth time with impressive numbers, including 14 sacks.
So, the stage is set. The first real clash between Rodgers and Garrett is scheduled for October 12th, when the Steelers host the Browns. It should certainly be an exciting game to watch!
