Myrta Romanos, stepmother of accused killer, arrested in pregnant teen Savanah Soto, boyfriend murder case

A third person was arrested Wednesday in connection with the Savana Soto murder and charged with helping dump the bodies of a pregnant teen and her boyfriend, who were shot to death by the suspected killer's stepmother.

San Antonio police said Mirta Romanos, 47, was accused of murdering Christopher Preciado, 19, his father, and Ramon Preciado, 53, in connection with the murders of Soto and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra. He was taken into custody a few days after his arrest.

Romanos was charged with felony abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealment of a human corpse.

Police said Christopher Preciado is suspected of using a gun belonging to Romanos to shoot the couple.

Surveillance camera footage showed Romanos traveling with his son-in-law and domestic partner Ramon, leaving the house to abandon the body before returning.

When police interviewed Romanos on January 4 after Christopher and Ramon's arrest, he claimed that he thought Soto and Guerra were killed and that they were asleep when their bodies were removed. That's what it means. Affidavit obtained by KSAT.

“There was a lot of information on social media that a third party was involved,” San Antonio Police Lt. Michel Ramos said in a news conference broadcast on television.

“Our homicide detectives were aware of that, but they were looking for probable cause to make an arrest and present the best case to the DA's office.”

Romanos was wearing a black Ozzy Osbourne shirt as he trotted out of the police station toward investigators. She remained silent as she entered the back of the police cruiser.

Police previously announced that Christopher Preciado was charged with capital murder for allegedly assaulting a young couple during a drug deal gone wrong.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained, the suspect told police he shot Soto and Guerra in self-defense after they drove to his home to sell marijuana. From Express News. But authorities believe that version of events doesn't match the evidence.

Soto and Guerra, who were nine months pregnant, were found in a car outside an apartment complex on December 26, and the fetus was also declared dead.

“We are confident that there are no additional suspects at this time,” Ramos said Wednesday.
