A Florida woman has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a neighbor’s house naked and leaving her children alone.
Hayley Brandt, 24, was charged with robbery, criminal mischief and child abandonment, Lake City Police said in a news release.
Officers responded just before noon Wednesday to a report of a burglary in progress at a home on Huntsboro Avenue NW.
When officers arrived, the victim said an unknown person, later identified as Brandt, knocked on the front door, but no one answered when he asked who was there. Brandt then reportedly went to the sliding glass door of the home and began knocking again, but did not identify himself when the victim asked.

Police said the victim was on the phone calling 911 when Brandt entered the home by breaking a window near the front door.
Officers then arrived at the home and the victim met them outside.
When officers approached the front door, they found Brandt naked and bleeding from injuries sustained when he broke a window and entered the home.

Brandt was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds. She was later released from the hospital and booked into the Columbia County Jail without bail.
An investigation into the incident revealed that Brandt, who lived in a nearby home, had left two young children at home unsupervised and had broken into a neighbor’s home, leading to charges of child neglect. .
The children were found safely and later released to their families.
