Nancy Mace addresses the arrest of a trans activist accused of making violent death threats.

Trans Activist Arrested for Threats Against Lawmakers

“I hope they’re wearing makeup in prison,” was the reaction from Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, regarding the arrest of Samuel Theodore Cain. Cain, a 19-year-old trans activist known online as “Roxy Wolf,” was accused of making repeated death threats against lawmakers, marking him as the first known trans activist to be arrested under such accusations.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mace expressed her concerns directly. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” she stated, referring to the months of threats she faced since proposing bills aimed at protecting women’s spaces. Mace emphasized that the safety of her family and staff remains her utmost priority.

“We live in fear every day,” she shared, mentioning the troubling climate of threats she associates with trans activism. Allegations include Cain posting violent messages directed toward Mace and her child. Law enforcement was made aware of these threats as they unfolded over several months, according to Mace.

Notably, investigative journalist Andy Ngo reported that Cain had a track record of making threats and displaying support for various political causes. In one alarming post, Cain explicitly stated his intention to assassinate Mace, leading to further scrutiny of his social media presence.

Mace cited a specific voicemail as evidence of the threats she received, recounting that the messages discussed violent actions against her. “And yet, not a single Democrat has condemned this,” she remarked, expressing disappointment over the lack of solidarity against political violence.

She also emphasized the importance of accountability, calling out the perceived normalization of violence by those on the political left. “When they show you who they are, believe them,” Mace said, underscoring the need for society to address such behaviors seriously.

Mace, who has initiated laws to secure women’s spaces, reiterated that the recent arrest highlights why her legislative efforts are crucial. “Real men do not threaten women,” she added, urging others to join her in speaking out against violence.

Stressing the need for change, Mace argued that legal protections around social media threats must be reconsidered, particularly referencing Section 230, which currently grants technology platforms immunity from liability. “There’s no accountability,” she explained, advocating for a reevaluation of laws impacting online communication.

In response to criticism about her remarks regarding the threats, Mace firmly stated that only Democrats tend to blame victims. She called out the apparent double standards within her political party, pointing to the silence from her colleagues since Cain’s arrest.

When asked for advice to other lawmakers, especially women, Mace emphasized that violence against women must always be taken seriously. “We must protect them,” she affirmed, urging her peers to stand up boldly for women’s rights and safety.

Preparations are underway for Mace to attend a bond hearing for Cain scheduled soon, as she continues to navigate the aftermath of these threats with urgency.
