Nancy Mace Proposes Legislation to Cut Funding for Animal Testing at NIH

On Thursday, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) proposed a bill aimed at reimbursing the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for painful experiments conducted on dogs and cats. This move follows new insights from the Taxpayer Watchdog group, Whitecoat Waste Project (WCW).

WCW revealed troubling details about cruel experiments funded by taxpayers, including the well-known Gospel Experiment. They have collaborated with Mace and other legislators to halt these practices.

The latest update is the introduction of the Animal Abuse and Waste Prevention Act (PAAW). This bill prevents the NIH from financing painful experiments involving dogs and cats.

As noted in the bill’s text, it states clearly that “The NIH director may not be able to carry out or support research that causes significant pain and distress in dogs and cats.”

The description of “studies that cause serious pain or distress” includes those categorized as D or E under the Department of Agriculture’s pain classifications or those outlined under section 13 of the Animal Welfare Act.

The bill specifies, “The provisions under subsection (a) will take effect 90 days after the enactment of this Act.”

This initiative has garnered bipartisan support, including co-sponsorship from Darren Soto (D-FL), Jay Obernolte (R-CA), Donald Davis (D-NC), Michael Lawler (R-NY), Troy Nehls (R-TX), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), and Dina Titus (D-NV). here.

Mace commented, “This isn’t just animal abuse; it’s bureaucratic cruelty paid for by American taxpayers.” According to her, all federal labs must allow for the removal and adoption of animals after testing, as reiterated in an exclusive statement.

“If the NIH doesn’t take action voluntarily, we will force them to,” she remarked. “These are pets and part of families, not just lab instruments; we aim to end this taxpayer-funded abuse.”

“As the first organization to uncover Dr. Fauci’s cruelty towards dogs and kittens globally, Whitecoat Waste strongly backs Rep. Mace’s bipartisan PAAW Act to ultimately withdraw funding for painful pet experiments conducted by the NIH,” added Goodman.

“While initiatives like the Pentagon’s recent budget cuts stem from our investigations into cruel experiments on cats and dogs, the NIH still faces scrutiny. They continue to engage in shocking practices, like inducing heart failure in kittens and administering cocaine to puppies, while new funding opportunities for harmful dog labs emerge. It’s critical that we reduce NIH’s excessive budget by 40%, especially after the revelations regarding Fauci’s funded facilities. Passing the Mace PAAW Act represents an essential step towards stopping wasted NIH resources and taxpayer-supported animal cruelty. The solution is straightforward: cut the funds and end the madness!”

This comes after several WCW successes, like the announcement from the US Navy about ceasing all tests on cats and dogs and reducing inefficiencies in governmental animal testing practices. Additionally, the Pentagon has reportedly cut millions from dog and cat laboratory funding.

However, despite these victories, WCW has asserted that the NIH continues to perpetuate horrific experiments on animals.
