Nancy Pelosi Suggests Rioters Setting Cars on Fire in LA Could Be Influenced by the 'Excitement of the Moment'

Los Angeles Riots: Pelosi’s Remarks and Trump’s Response

During a recent press conference, California Rep. Nancy Pelosi described the riots happening in Los Angeles as a manifestation of “vibrantness,” downplaying the chaos that had unfolded.

President Donald Trump, on the other hand, ordered the deployment of 700 Marines to support federal security forces as the riots continued for the fifth day, following a previous attack by ICE at a Home Depot in the area. Pelosi dismissed the situation, insisting that it was merely a chaotic environment rather than an outright destruction.

“There are large gatherings of people,” she remarked, suggesting that anarchists were seizing the opportunity to create unrest. She noted, “You should always be careful, whether it’s a burned car or a broken window. It could just be the frenzy of the moment, or it could be something more organized.” She referred to comments from a former police chief during her address.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell highlighted escalating tensions, mentioning that officers faced danger from commercial-grade fireworks being shot at them, pointing out the serious risks involved.

In a related incident, the FBI released footage of a suspect, Elpido Reyna, who allegedly threw rocks at a vehicle containing ICE agents. They have offered a reward for information leading to his capture. Pelosi contrasted this chaos with the events of January 6, 2021, criticizing Trump for his inaction during the Capitol riot.

“On January 6th, violence was directed toward the Constitution and Congress,” she said. “We asked for the National Guard, but he didn’t respond. His silence incited harm against law enforcement on that day.”

Amid this turmoil, Trump’s immigration policies reportedly enjoy support from over 51% of the American public, according to recent poll averages.
