NASCAR fines Xfinity Series driver Joey Gase for throwing bumper at another car after wreck

Joey Gase was fined by NASCAR after he threw the rear bumper of a fellow driver’s car during Saturday’s Toyota Care 250 Xfinity Series race.

NASCAR officials announced Wednesday that Gase would be fined $5,000 for violating safety rules.

Gase was racing the No. 35 Chevrolet when his car swerved and crashed into the wall on lap 174.

Upon replay, it appears that Dawson Crum’s No. 4 Chevrolet was the cause of the crash, and Gase was unable to control his emotions.

After jumping from the car, Gase tore off the remaining portion of the fiberglass rear bumper and fired it at Crum’s car as it traveled down Richmond Raceway.

As Crum drove away, Gaze’s bumper landed on Crum’s windshield.

This incident went viral on the internet. Social media. Gass also spoke about the cause of the accident.

Gase said of Crumb, “I think he was just in the wrong head.” “He’s got his first chance in Xfinity. I know (team owner) Johnny Davis doesn’t destroy race cars in his day job. We’re a small team and we’re lucky. I’m racing hard for it, but apparently (he) just did it and I don’t know how to lift it.

“So maybe his throttle is stuck. I don’t know.”

Crum finished 25th in the race, but then posted on Instagram without mentioning Gase at all.

“‘P25!’ I’m proud of all of our staff at @jdmotorsports01 working hard to move us in the right direction. Thank you @ksdtcpa and @flsheriffsyr for riding with me!,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday.

“Happy Easter and don’t forget that he is risen!”
