A Nashville man is accused of killing his elderly wife with a hammer on New Year's Day and burying her body on his property on the outskirts of town, police said.
Joseph Glynn, 70, died Saturday after investigators discovered the body of Jackie Glynn, 76, in a 6-foot grave on property the couple owned in Smithville, Tenn. , was arrested by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department.
The department announced the tragic news in a follow-up to a Silver Alert for the murdered woman who had been missing since January 1.

“We have some news that is hard to share. Jackie Glynn, the subject of the #TNSilverAlert issued last night, was found dead in Smithville,” officials wrote. “Our thoughts are with those who knew and loved her.”
Police told Joseph: Admitted Fox News reported that he hit Jackie in the head with a hammer at his home.
An investigation revealed that Joseph killed his wife in Nashville on the day she was last seen in the Abbott Martin Road area, then drove her body to a common property about an hour away and buried it. .
Police said that after Joseph killed his wife, he told his children that he had left home because he was terminally ill. She questioned her health care provider and found out that was false.
After a Silver Alert was issued on Friday, police found her car near the couple's Smithville property and later discovered a “newly covered hole” on the property, Fox reported.

Upon digging, Jackie's body was discovered in a six-foot deep grave. internal It was located under a pile of cargo boxes and roof shingles from the vehicle, according to WSMV-TV.
Investigators said they determined Glynn hired a contractor to dig what he claimed was a burn pit on Dec. 16.
Authorities believe he dumped the weapon somewhere in the Keltonburg Community Center, but it has not yet been recovered.
Joseph was charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence and is currently being held in the Davidson County Jail on $1.03 million bail.
