Tragic Shooting at Nashville U-Haul

A U-Haul employee in Nashville is accused of fatally shooting his co-worker after an argument about alcohol. Police say the incident involved several gunshots and occurred while both were on duty.

Devin Rice, 23, was arrested on August 5. He reportedly shot Fredrick Litton, 56, during a confrontation at the U-Haul location. Litton was later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, Rice admitted to firing the weapon while under the influence. Witnesses claim he then fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after.

One local resident, Joshua Hotailen, expressed concern over rising crime rates in Nashville, stressing that more needs to be done to address gun violence. “Crime is really getting worse here,” he remarked.

In a statement, Jeff Porter, a regional vice president for U-Haul in Tennessee, conveyed the company’s shock and sadness over the event. “Our focus now is on supporting the victim’s family and team members impacted by this tragedy,” he stated.

Litton was remembered as a dedicated truck driver who loved the open road and was known for his strong spirit. His obituary highlighted his passion for NASCAR, animals, and classic country music, expressing that he would always be cherished by those who knew him.
