Pollster Nate Silver said the 50/50 odds on the presidential election mean people should start making plans in case former President Trump retakes the White House in November.
Silver's election forecast and model has projected that Vice President Harris will defeat Trump for the first time since August 28. Harris said: Saturdayis leading Trump, 49 percent to 46.3 percent.
“One potential benefit of having a 50/50 forecast is that it forces people to make contingency plans immediately. [to stockpile] Ammo and peanut butter, but the question is, what is the strategy for protecting American institutions if Trump gets a second term? Or in 2028? The Guardian also reported that Mr Silver “fears a Trump victory”, but warned against using a second Trump term as a political strategy to portray him as a threat to democracy.
“The idea of holding voters hostage in that sense is very unappealing,” Silver said. “Biden was saying, 'OK, sure, I may run for president until I'm 86 and can barely write a coherent sentence, but if you don't vote for me, the country gets it.'”
Silver praised Harris' “joy” and called her an “extremely talented woman.”
But Silver questioned whether Harris was keeping too many of Biden's staff behind because “they thought it was a good idea to continue campaigning for Biden.” [him]” he added. He guessed she had no choice.
