Nationwide recall of Spring & Mulberry chocolate bars due to salmonella fears

Chocolate bars sold throughout the U.S. are facing a recall due to potential salmonella contamination.

Spring & Mulberry Co., based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is recalling specific mint leaf date chocolate bars after routine testing indicated possible safety issues, as reported by the FDA on Monday.

This recall concerns lot number 025255 of 2.1-ounce chocolate bars that have been available online and at certain retail locations since September 15, 2025.

The affected chocolates, which are packaged in teal, feature lot numbers on both the outer box and the inner wrapper.

“Spring & Mulberry is taking preventive measures by recalling these products to safeguard public health,” the company stated.

“Regular checks by a third-party organization have suggested contamination risks.”

So far, Spring & Mulberry has indicated that there have been no reported illnesses connected to this issue.

Salmonella can lead to severe and occasionally fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems.

Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In rare cases, more alarming complications can arise.

“In some instances, infection may lead to severe illnesses like arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis,” the statement noted.

Consumers are advised to dispose of any affected chocolate bars without consuming them.

As per the FDA, refunds can be obtained by reaching out to Spring & Mulberry via email.

This recall is occurring amid several other food product recalls.

Last week, the FDA raised the risk category of certain cheese products to the highest level after they tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially life-threatening bacterium.

Additionally, federal authorities recently announced the recall of over 38,000 cases of frozen tater tots sold across 26 states due to potential plastic contamination.

Spring & Mulberry has yet to respond to inquiries for further comments.
