NATO Expresses Condolences to Iranians for President Ebrahim Raisi’s Death

NATO, the US-led military alliance of Western countries, expressed condolences to the Iranian people after Sunday’s brutal helicopter crash killed President Ebrahim Raisi and other senior officials.

NATO spokesperson Farah Dahlallah wrote on X: “My condolences to the #Iranian people for the deaths of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian and the others who died in the helicopter crash.”

Such expressions of condolence surprised Western officials, Israelis targeted by Iranian-funded terrorism, and Iranian dissidents, who said they were actually celebrating his death. .

“My condolences to the Iranian people for the lost opportunity to bring Tehran’s butchers to justice for their crimes,” Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) sarcastically posted.

“Raish was a brutal dictator who brutally oppressed the Iranian people,” said Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas). It’s not worth showing your intentions.”

Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) added, “This is absurd. NATO mourns the death of a terrorist.”

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) commented, “Our tax dollars are working overseas…”

“What!?!? NATO should not be mourning bloodthirsty, terrorist-supporting tyrants,” exclaimed Rep. Mike Walz (R-Fla.). “Not to mention, multiple NATO countries had just shot down hundreds of Iranian drones that were launched at Israel and international shipping in the Red Sea!”

Former Trump administration officials also appeared in disbelief.

Richard Grenell, a former Trump administration official and former U.S. ambassador to Germany, posted: “The Iranian people are celebrating. Most of them don’t have freedom, so they have to celebrate in private.”

Robert Greenway, a former Trump administration official and Heritage Foundation expert, posted: “The Butcher of Tehran” and an Revolutionary Guards officer? Both helped provide Russia with the drones and missiles that now threaten Europe. The Iranian people are celebrating the end of Iran, and NATO should be celebrating as well. ”

A number of former NATO officials also spoke out.

Marshall Billingsey posted:as the original @NATO Deputy Secretary-General, I was surprised by this tweet.this is completely inappropriate [sic] On so many levels. ”

Belgian official Theo Franken said:NATO mourns the death of a butcher and brutal mass murderer? This is the real enemy of the West and our alliance. You never speak in my name. ”

Iranian dissidents and defectors also bombed the post.

Nazanin Boniadi, an Iranian-British actress and activist, posted: “I can’t imagine how the survivors of Raishi’s atrocities will feel reading this.” Well, at least we know what the current situation is with all these institutions. Because it’s embarrassing. ”

The Israeli government account added: “NATO needs a new spokesperson.”
