Navy Rushes to the Rescue: Urgent Medical Aid for Pakistani Fishermen Near Oman!

Mumbai:

The Indian naval vessel, stationed in the central Arabian waters, provided crucial and urgent medical aid to Pakistani crew members on fishing boats near Oman, the navy reported on Sunday.

Ins Trikand, a stealth frigate whose mission with the Indian Navy has been concluded, on Friday intercepted a distress call from Iran’s Dow Al Omeedi, which is located approximately 350 nautical miles east of the Omani coast.

The Navy’s investigation revealed that the crew of the vessel had sustained serious finger injuries while operating the engine, were in peril, and were transferred to another dow, FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia, en route to Iran.

“Trikand swiftly altered its course to provide medical care to the injured crew. The FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia crew included 11 Pakistanis (9 from Baroque and 2 from Sindh) along with five Iranian staff.

Medical personnel aboard Ins Trikand, together with a team of Marcos (Marine Commandos) and the ship’s boarding team, boarded the vessel to provide aid.

After administering local anesthesia, the medical team on the ship stitched and treated the injured finger, with the surgical operation lasting over three hours, successfully controlling the bleeding in time to avert permanent loss of the injured finger.

“Additionally, medical supplies that included antibiotics were supplied to the vessels to maintain the crew’s health until they reached Iran. All crew members conveyed their sincere gratitude to the Indian Navy for their prompt assistance in preserving their lives,” the Navy stated.
