A Surprising Love Story for a Navy Veteran

While lying on her back, Addison James hit the jackpot, both literally and figuratively.

The 46-year-old, who served in the US Navy, found herself in a precarious situation—a brothel in Las Vegas, working to make ends meet. That is, until she crossed paths with a wealthy elderly widow, leading to an unexpected and happy marriage.

This twist in her life story occurred after James needed to take a break from her work in adult films due to surgery for a herniated disc. “I wasn’t working and had minimal money coming in from OnlyFans,” she explained. Her earnings had dwindled to about $1,000 a month, forcing her to leave her apartment.

Before this downturn, she earned between $800 and $2,500 per scene, but her work was inconsistent. “You’d have two or three shoots for a couple of months, then nothing for weeks. It’s just unpredictable,” said James, who served aboard the USS Nimitz from 1998 to 2003 before entering the adult industry about three years ago.

Feeling tired of couch surfing at friends’ places, she took a job at Shelley’s Ranch, a well-known brothel, in July. Just a few weeks into her new role, she received a “lovely email” from a potential client named Jim, who would soon become her husband.

Jim, a 77-year-old Air Force veteran, revealed in his message that he was seeking companionship after the loss of his wife. “He wanted something safe, and Sheri’s was legal,” James recalled. He led a relatively ordinary life, which made his decision to visit a brothel quite a departure from his routine. “It was a big step for him,” she noted.

On their first in-person meeting, Jim was smitten almost immediately. “I fell in love with her right away—love at first sight,” he shared. What was supposed to be a one-night encounter turned into something more, with Jim spending a second night with her and racking up a $25,000 bill for their time together.

The couple maintains an active love life, traveling between Jim’s home in Missouri and Arizona. Even though Jim had some initial reservations, James continued her career in adult entertainment. “There’s nothing intimate about being in a porn movie. Jim understands that now,” she stated, adding that their open conversations about sexuality have been liberating for him.

“Of course, he wants me to retire and take care of me, but I’m too young for that. I need to keep working or I’ll go crazy,” she explained.

To this, Jim replied, “At the end of the day, I know she’s going to come back to me, and that’s what truly matters.”
