The 3-pointer has changed the basketball game and Draymond Green is not excited about it.
Approximately 75 3-pointers have been attempted per game this season. Just five years ago, those numbers were hovering at around 68 years old. Ten years ago, I was under 45.
To put that into perspective, the Denver Nuggets film NBA-low 31.2 3-pointers per contest.

Green has attempted 3.5 games, shooting his most 3-pointer in nearly seven years. From 2018 to 2024, he averaged only 2.1 three contests.
Green is definitely on the same team as Stephen Curry, the architect of this new brand of basketball, but he doesn't like playing the game today.
“All possessions are a kind of chess move. You don't get it often in the NBA today. … You don't just get it regularly. It's not true. I think so,” Green said via ESPN.

The NBA also promoted freedom of movement, leading to a higher scoring game and a lower defensive rating.
Coincidentally, NBA TV ratings have declined throughout the season.
However, the deal that sent Luka Dončić to the Lakers provided a boost. His LA debut averaged over 2 million viewers. Trade deadlines have encouraged a double-digit increase in viewers since January.

By Christmas, ratings had fallen 19% from the previous year. There were many factors, including the Dodgers-Yankees World Series.
The NBA has paced with over 92,000 3-pointers attempted this season, which is something that has never been seen before.
