The NBA has concluded yet another format for the 2025 All Star Weekend, sending messages to players to improve the often criticized event.
This season's All-Star Game features tournaments between four teams rather than the traditional two.
The three teams are made up of this year's NBA All-Stars, with the rest being created by winners of the annual Rising Stars Challenge.
In addition to the new format, the NBA and National Basketball Players Association will meet with players before Sunday's game and send messages to make more effort into the game. NBA Insider Chris Haynes.
“The league and player unions address All-Star players before the All-Star Game and before the All-Star Game on the importance of doing a show for the fans,” Haynes said.
Haynes added: “These are said to be talks that continue on a daily basis before the All-Star Game, but this is even more clear as changes to the All-Star format have been changed to multiple teams and scrutiny increases. Players will be interested on All-Star Sunday. As to how it appears to have, this message is expected to urge players to fight more for consumers and businesses.”
The All-Star Game has received widespread criticism over recent seasons, with fans often pointing to a lack of competitiveness from players.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver last changed the format of the All-Star Game in 2020 by adding Elam Ending. This ended the game based on a target score of 24 in the fourth quarter, with the first team being named winner.

However, the outcome of ELAM proved to have failed to improve the efforts of players as the game remains uncompetitive.
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday at San Francisco's Chase Center and air on TNT and TRUTV at 8pm.
