NBC News correspondents at the Republican National Convention (RNC) have already interrupted prayers twice, with the most recent incident involving delegates telling the network’s reporters to “shut up,” according to Daily Caller White House news correspondent Reagan Reese.
As the Republican National Convention kicked off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, NBC’s Vaughn Hilliard was seen apologizing on Tuesday when host Jen Psaki tried to cut to him because Hilliard was in the Republican National Convention crowd.
“What are you hearing from people on the ground?” Psaki asked.
“Jen, I’m sorry to have to do this, but they’ve just started praying and I don’t want to interrupt that with this crowd,” Hilliard replied, but nearby spectators had already bowed their heads.

On Thursday evening, another NBC correspondent, Garrett Haack, appeared again in the crowd at the Republican National Convention, attempting to discuss Republican sentiment. But when Haack began to speak during the prayer moment, several delegates reportedly told him to “shut up,” before adding that it was “not appropriate to interrupt,” Reese said. Tweeted Outside.
Another audience member, internet personality Jason Howerton, also tweeted about the incident, saying someone told Haacke to “shut up.”

Footage from the broadcast shows the NBC host suggesting the crowd might be in the middle of a prayer session, then asking Haack if he spotted Ohio Sen. and Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance.

As Haake began to explain that Vance and Trump’s families did not come to the Republican National Convention together, he could be heard whispering and realizing he was being told to be quiet.
“Folks, we’ve been asked to be quiet here, but you can see Vance and the former president onstage behind us as they come on during the prayer,” Haake said.
