On Tuesday, NBC announced that McDonnell would no longer work for the station.

NBC and MSNBC anchors welcomed the decision, but some staffers feared the measure would further alienate Republicans, noting that they were already “sending messages from angry Republican sources.” did.

In contrast, MSNBC officials expressed frustration that NBC had not anticipated the internal turmoil surrounding her hiring decision.
