According to figures released by Chicago's city government, approximately 2,800 people were killed in shootings in the city from January 1, 2024 to December 30, 2024.
According to chicago governmentthe total number of gunshot victims (fatal and non-fatal) during the period covered was 2,794.
The total includes 512 gunshot deaths and 2,282 non-fatal shooting victims.
As of this writing, there are about 36 hours left until 2024, so the total number of shooting victims is likely to increase. But as of now, that total is about 150 fewer people than in 2023. However, in Chicago, “trafficking victimization” increased by 141.7 percent in 2024 compared to 2023, and “victimization by serious battery” increased by 5.5 percent.
Breitbart News reported that at least 100 people were shot in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend alone. Seventeen of the weekend's shooting victims died from their injuries.
