Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen Hospitalized After Being ‘Bucked’ Off Horse

Nebraska Republican Gov. Jim Pillen was hospitalized Sunday after reportedly being fell from a horse.

Pillen (R-Nebraska) was taken to the hospital after the harrowing incident. Doctors said they expected him to require medical attention for at least several days after falling from a horse while riding with relatives.

On Sunday, the 68-year-old man was rushed to Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska, and then transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

He suffered damage to his spleen, minor damage to his kidneys, a minor fracture in one of his vertebrae and seven broken ribs on his left side, according to trauma surgeons at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. update on monday.

“Doctors said the damage to his kidneys and spine would heal on its own. They said there was no damage to his nervous system and no signs of head or spinal column damage.” NBC News Reported.

The governor's own office also commented on his healing process.

“The governor is alert and in continuous communication with his team,” Pillen's office said in a statement.

“Governor. Pillen and his family are extremely grateful for the thoughts and prayers of Nebraskans and wish all Nebraskans a Merry Christmas,” he added.

In January 2023, Mr. Pillen was sworn in as governor. He and his wife Suzanne have four children and seven grandchildren.
