Teacher and Boyfriend Charged with Sex Trafficking in Nebraska

A teacher from Holdreage, Nebraska, along with her boyfriend, is facing serious charges related to the sex trafficking of a high school student.

The suspects have been named as 36-year-old Elizabeth Jamie Love and 42-year-old Jarid “Jack” Krause. The situation unfolded after an investigation began, involving the Holdreage Police and the Nebraska State Patrol, which ultimately led to arrest warrants and charges being filed by the Phelps County Attorney’s Office.

Love, who serves as a teacher and transition coordinator for ESU-11, has worked at various schools statewide. Following the allegations, ESU-11 has placed her on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The investigation reportedly started when authorities learned about inappropriate interactions between the couple and a current high school student whom Love had mentored. Over recent weeks, there were concerning exchanges noted.

Love faces charges including one count of sex trafficking of a minor and another for sexual grooming, while Krause is charged with sex trafficking of a minor as well.

A recent report from Nebraska Television highlighted details from an arrest affidavit; it indicated that the girl disclosed to authorities a phone conversation from August, where Krause allegedly expressed a desire to have sex with her.

According to the affidavit, on October 11, Love picked up the girl and brought her to her home. While there, Krause supposedly took the girl to an upstairs bedroom and made a sexual request, which she declined. The affidavit mentions that when she asked to leave, Krause allowed her to do so.

Furthermore, surveillance footage showed the girl walking away with Love pursuing her in a car. Eventually, Love gave the girl a ride home. It’s said that Love later apologized to the girl, urged her to keep the matter private, and provided her with $100, which she claimed was intended for the purchase of a new cellphone rather than hush money.

This case comes in the wake of a significant operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which recently dismantled a human trafficking ring in Omaha. The agency rescued multiple children amid revelations of appalling conditions in which victims were found.

According to reports, Love and Krause are set to appear in court on Monday. Both individuals are currently detained at the Phelps County Jail, with bail set at $250,000.
