Donald Trump Jr. said on social media on Monday that it was “getting really old” to have “the conversation with my five young children” about the radical left that is “trying to kill their grandfather.”
“You know what could really be annoying? Having to talk to five young children about radical leftists trying to kill their grandfather,” Trump Jr. said in a post on X on Monday morning.
“No one should have to do this in America or anywhere else, yet I had to have this conversation five times yesterday,” Trump Jr. added in the post.
Former President Donald Trump survived another assassination attempt on Sunday, Breitbart News reported, marking the second such attempt in two months.
On Sunday afternoon, the Trump campaign said the Republican candidate “heard gunfire nearby but is safe.”
The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, reportedly hid in bushes near the Trump International Golf Course and waited for Trump to come into view as he was playing golf.
Secret Service agents, who travel a hole or two ahead of Trump when he plays golf to secure the area, encountered Routh before he fired shots at the 45th president.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, US Secret Service agents then engaged the suspect, who was armed with a scoped rifle, a backpack and a GoPro camera, possibly to film what he was planning.
Secret Service agents reportedly fired shots at Routh, who then fled the scene in a black Nissan. Witnesses saw the suspect fleeing and took photos of the vehicle and license plate, the sheriff's office added. From there, police were able to encounter and detain the suspect.
The FBI has announced that it is currently investigating a second assassination attempt on President Trump. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) Announced The state of Florida will be conducting its own investigation into what happened, separate from the federal investigation.
It's worth noting that just five days before the second assassination attempt on President Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris told millions of Americans live during Tuesday's presidential debate that President Trump “has been wanting to be a dictator since day one” and that he had launched “the worst attack on democracy since the Civil War,” a statement that no doubt infuriated some crazed viewers.
Notably, Routh issued an X-post on President Joe Biden earlier this year. write“Democracy is on the ballot and we cannot lose. We cannot afford to fail. The world is looking to us to show the way.”
Meanwhile, Harris posted on social media using the exact same language as the suspected assassin of President Trump.
Questions remain unanswered about how Routh and fellow assassin Thomas Crooks were able to get so far in their assassination attempt, how the plotters found weaknesses in the security plan and got so close to President Trump in just two months.
Trump narrowly survived the assassination attempt on July 13, when Crooks opened fire and shot him in the ear while he was speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Breitbart News reported.
The first assassination attempt killed former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore and seriously injured two other rally attendees, David Duch and James Copenhaver.
