Neighbor charged with shooting woman over her horse becoming 'too fat'

A man from Texas has been arrested after allegedly killing his neighbor’s horse, claiming he believed the horse was “too fat.”

Lee David Stroll, 39, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident that occurred on October 15 in the rural community of Leggett, located north of Livingston, according to reports.

Authorities have noted that Stroll is also wanted in Harris County for a separate aggravated assault involving a family member.

Court documents indicate that deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting report on Wilson Road, where they discovered a woman with several gunshot wounds.

She recounted to investigators that Stroll shot her in the arm and potentially in the back during a disagreement about how to feed the horses, which were on his property with his consent.

The woman expressed frustration over Stroll’s insistence on feeding the horse, citing his concerns that it “didn’t want it to get too fat.”

A perimeter was established around Stroll’s residence while deputies sought a search warrant. Evidence linked him to the shooting was found within the home.

Eventually, he was located hiding in a nearby wooded area and was apprehended without resistance. Currently, Stroll remains in jail without bail in Polk County.

Fortunately, the victim did survive, although there haven’t been any updates regarding her health.

Details surrounding the events that led to the shooting and whether Stroll has secured legal representation remain undisclosed.
