Nevada Advances to Little League World Series Finals

Nevada secured an 8-2 victory over Connecticut in the Little League World Series semi-finals on Saturday, setting up a championship game against Taiwan on Sunday.

Garrett Gallegos stood out in the match, not only scoring a home run but also pitching five impressive innings to guide his team to victory.

In a crucial moment during the first inning, Grayson Miranda delivered a significant at-bat. With the bases loaded and a count of 0-2, he was patient, fouling off several pitches before finally getting a hit. This set the stage for Nevada’s three-run home run, showcasing the team’s tenacity.

Connecticut tried to rally when the score was 4-2, putting two runners in play. Unfortunately, Ben Herbst was tagged out at third base, which turned the momentum back to Nevada. Gallegos maintained control, notching his eighth strikeout to end the inning.

Nevada added four runs in the sixth inning, which included a two-run single from Cutter Rica Fort, sealing their victory.

Meanwhile, in the international semi-finals at Lamade Stadium, Taiwan clinched a narrow win against Alba, with a score of 1-0. Liu Wei-Heng pitched 5 and 1/3 shutout innings, while the only run came after a walk by Chen Sihong, followed by an error from third baseman Liam Pena Caravallo.

Nevada aims for its first title, while Taiwan is pursuing its 18th overall title, having previously won in 1996, and looking to rebound after losing in last year’s finals.
