New Astronomer CEO Releases Statement Following Allegations Against Previous Leader Revealed at Concert

Astronomer CEO Comments on Recent Scandal

Newly appointed Astronomer CEO Pete DeJoy made a public statement, posted on the company’s website on July 21, following the scandal surrounding the previous CEO, who was reportedly caught in an affair during a Coldplay concert.

During the concert on July 10, cameras captured Andy Byron appearing to embrace Kristin Cabot, the company’s HR head, which led to speculation about an inappropriate relationship. This footage spread quickly across social media, drawing significant attention. DeJoy addressed the situation, reflecting on the unexpected publicity it brought to the company.

“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies—especially startups in our niche of data and AI—ever experience,” he remarked.

“It’s been a strange and surreal spotlight, and while I wouldn’t have chosen it this way, Astronomer is now a name many recognize.”

Despite the turmoil, DeJoy expressed confidence in the company’s resilience. He emphasized that the team at Astronomer has faced numerous challenges in nearly a decade of operations and has always come out stronger.

“From launching a software company in Cincinnati to navigating the collapse of our banking partner, and scaling from 30 to 300 employees during a pandemic while working remotely,” he outlined.

He stressed that the people behind Astronomer are dedicated to solving complex problems and committed to integrity.

“Our customers rely on us for their most ambitious data and AI projects,” he noted. “Ultimately, what we do is about something much larger than any single moment.”

DeJoy concluded, stating that the narrative of the company is still unfolding.
