New Roller Coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure
A new giant roller coaster is currently being built at Six Flags Great Adventure, and it has already become the tallest structure in any New Jersey theme park. Known as Project Purple, the ride is still under construction and is projected to open in 2027. It has already reached a height of over 320 feet.
“We are thrilled to see the progress of what is now referred to as Project Purple,” a spokesperson for the park mentioned.
The park elaborated that not only has the structure climbed to over 320 feet, but it will also be one of the tallest roller coasters globally upon completion. Construction is on track, and workers are actively working on the vibrant purple coaster, which can be seen from quite a distance.
While the park has yet to disclose the official name or the total capacity of the ride, they confirmed that it will feature “multiple launches and innovative ride experiences that are unique in North America.”
The construction is expected to continue through 2026, followed by several months of rigorous testing before welcoming riders in 2027. Interestingly, this project comes about two years after the demolition of Kingda Ka, which was a 456-foot tall launch coaster that was removed in early 2025.
Even though Kingda Ka is no longer there, Six Flags aims for this new attraction to deliver a similarly thrilling experience, while also incorporating several ride elements not available in North America, according to reports.
As the new coaster takes shape, excitement is building among roller coaster enthusiasts online. One user expressed their surprise at the size when they saw it in person, noting the substantial support system. Another commenter shared how public sentiment seems to have shifted from skepticism to excitement as the construction progresses.
In fact, some are looking forward to possible outrageous features at the top of the new ride. Overall, it’s clear that Project Purple is generating considerable buzz in the roller coaster community.
