New Drink at Costco Food Court: A Mixed Reception
Costco’s Food Court has introduced a new frozen strawberry lemonade just in time for summer, and reactions from members are rolling in.
Shared on Instagram by a popular page focused on the wholesale giant, the frozen strawberry lemonade is priced at $2.99 and contains 250 calories. The drink boasts real fruit without any artificial flavors or colors.
In a video shared by the account Costco Hot, content creator Laura Jane Lamb remarked, “This is very good, and it’s very refreshing.” Yet, not everyone seems to agree.
Comments on social media have been varied. While some people described it as “Just OK,” others raved about it being “Awesome.” One user noted, “The strawberry banana was much better,” suggesting a preference for a previous offering.
Another commenter shared that the drink has a tartness to it, adding, “Prepare for it! But it’s refreshing.” On the flip side, a few users expressed a desire for the return of the churro, showing feelings of nostalgia for past menu items.
The new frozen strawberry lemonade seems to have replaced the earlier strawberry banana smoothie, which was introduced earlier this year. Discussions on Reddit have echoed these sentiments, with customers reacting to the new drink saying it’s “too sweet” or “a bit tart.” One user mentioned, “The strawberries were amazing,” but then added some critique about the overall taste.
In one humorous story, a Reddit user recounted an experience with a friend who, eager to try the new drink, found it difficult to sip through a straw as the fruit kept getting stuck. They resolved the issue by blending it, resulting in a drink that was much easier to enjoy.
Costco is no stranger to making updates to its menu. Notably, fan-favorite combo pizzas have recently been revived as a “combo calzone,” filled with an array of ingredients. There’s even been chatter about a change in soft drink options coming later this year, with a shift to Coca-Cola products.
As Costco continues to make changes and introduce new items, it will be interesting to see what resonates with its loyal customer base and what might get left behind.
