New Dashcam Footage in Search for Missing Teen
Authorities in Texas have released new dashcam footage that could aid in the search for Camila Mendoza Olmos, a 19-year-old who vanished on Christmas Eve. They believe she may be in immediate danger.
As of December 24th, she was last seen around 6:58 a.m. after leaving her parents’ home. Security camera images captured her going through a car while wearing a light blue and black hoodie, light blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes before she walked away on foot.
On Monday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar shared grainy footage showing a person thought to be Mendoza Olmos walking north along Wildhorse Parkway shortly after 7 a.m.
According to Salazar, this might be the last confirmed sighting of Mendoza Olmos. The blurred figure appears to be heading north just a short distance from her home in San Antonio.
Salazar indicated that while they can’t say with absolute certainty that the person in the video is Mendoza Olmos, her clothing description matches. He noted that her mother typically expects her to return from morning walks, which adds to the family’s concern given that she hasn’t come back.
“This is the best lead we have at this point,” Salazar mentioned, urging anyone who might have additional videos to come forward.
The sheriff reassured the public that both deputies and volunteers are searching diligently for her. Multiple agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, are involved, with the latter monitoring border crossings and travel.
“We’re leaving no stone unturned,” Salazar added, noting they haven’t ruled out possibilities that could extend beyond U.S. borders.
It’s reported that Mendoza Olmos left home with just her car keys and possibly her driver’s license, leaving behind her cell phone. This is particularly concerning since it’s unusual for her to be without it, especially given her active lifestyle.
While Mendoza Olmos recently experienced a breakup with her girlfriend, authorities confirmed it was mutual and haven’t detected any signs of foul play. Yet, there are worries about her mental health as she has had past suicidal thoughts. Salazar emphasized the availability of help and the support from her family.
Although some details regarding Mendoza Olmos’s disappearance remain undisclosed, authorities have indicated she is in immediate danger and are appealing to the community for assistance in locating her.
If anyone has information about her whereabouts, they are urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210) 335-6000 or the BCSO Missing Persons Unit.
