New Details Emerge in University of Idaho Murders
Recently unsealed documents from the Moscow Police Station have brought to light disturbing new information regarding the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students.
On Wednesday, Brian Coberger was sentenced to prison without the possibility of parole after confessing to the killings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle at an off-campus residence in 2022.
The newly released documents describe how Coberger “traumatized” Goncalves’s face during the attack, making it nearly unrecognizable. A responding officer reportedly described the scene as a “bloodbath.”
As for the intensity of the struggle, it’s noted that Goncalves suffered severe defensive wounds between her fingers, indicating a violent confrontation. Kernodle was discovered at a lower level of the house.
Reports indicated that Coberger fled the scene after the altercation with Kernodle, according to various sources.
Dylan Mortensen, one of the two surviving students, recounted hearing screams and seeing a man with a mask passing by her room, allegedly saying, “You’re fine. I’m going to help you.” There are also indications that Kernodle may have received fast food delivery shortly before the horrific events unfolded.
Meanwhile, the speculation continues regarding whether Kernodle was the intended target of the assault. Some believe that after killing the first victim, Coberger encountered her unexpectedly.
Documents reveal that Chapin was found in bed, partially covered, suggesting that he was likely attacked while sleeping. In an emotional court session on Wednesday, family members of the victims addressed Coberger, with their heartfelt statements receiving applause.
