The Smoothie Boom in Ventura County
Exciting news for smoothie lovers! Erewhon, the upscale grocery chain from California, is about to open its first location outside of Los Angeles County. This new spot will serve $20 smoothies and, interestingly, something they call “sacred water.”
Scheduled to open on August 26 at Lakes Mall in Thousand Oaks, this location will be the chain’s furthest north so far.
With this new addition, Erewhon now boasts a total of 14 locations throughout Southern California. They also have a “tonic bar” at Kith Ivy, a members-only club in New York City.
A grand opening event will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM on the day of inauguration. Members can receive complimentary bags and flowers, along with exclusive merchandise like hats and candles.
Additionally, the store will introduce exclusive menu items. One highlight is a steak sandwich served on a toasted baguette, and another is the “Amidst the Oaks smoothie,” which features pineapple, coconut water, raw ginger, basil, spirulina, and mint.
It’s worth noting that part of the proceeds from this particular smoothie will go to Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank—a local resource that supports those facing food insecurity in the area.
Erewhon has been rapidly expanding in Los Angeles, having unveiled new stores at locations like LACMA and West Hollywood this year.
In September, the brand plans to branch into Orange County with a new store in Costa Mesa and has plans to open a Downtown location in June 2027. The site in Pacific Palisades, which had been closed due to the 2025 fire, just recently reopened in Rick Caruso’s Palisades Village.
The chain is quite popular among health enthusiasts and social media influencers, thanks to its celebrity-endorsed smoothies that often have a hefty price tag of over $20.
In an earlier grand opening event at West Hollywood back in February, hundreds of fans lined up, some as early as 6 AM, to snag limited edition tote bags and hoodies priced around $150.
One attendee, a fan named Zarna Mahen Joshi, shared, “I’m a New Yorker, but one of the biggest perks of living in LA is Erewhon. If they’re having a grand opening, I’m definitely going to be here.”
The brand also has various membership options. For $200 a year, members receive a free monthly smoothie and exclusive discounts from brands like Lululemon and Cadillac of Beverly Hills. There are even higher tiers: those who spend over $5,000 annually get “Premier” membership, and those exceeding $15,000 qualify for the “Reserve” tier, which includes perks like free delivery and priority checkout.
