Warner Bros.’ “Final Destination: Bloodline” is projected to have a record-setting opening weekend, drawing in around $21 million on its first day, Friday.
Industry insiders believe this horror film will surpass the franchise’s previous highest opening weekend, which was $41.3 million when adjusted for inflation from the 2009 release of “Final Destination.”
“Bloodline” features Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a college student grappling with ominous predictions about her family’s fate.
It seems likely that “Bloodline” will dethrone “Thunderbolts” from its current box office top position.
The Marvel film brought in $43 million in the U.S. this week, managing to keep its No. 1 ranking.
Since its release on May 2, “Thunderbolts” has generated $143 million domestically and $286 million worldwide.
In other news, “The Cinner,” a musical horror film starring Michael B. Jordan, earned $32 million this week, landing in the second position. Set in the Mississippi Delta in 1932, this film has accumulated $229 million since its launch on April 17.
