A newly released video captures Brian Kohberger being pulled over for speeding just months prior to the tragic deaths of four University of Idaho students.
This footage was initially withheld for trial preparations but has now come to light after Kohberger unexpectedly admitted to murdering his roommates Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, as noted by Idaho officials.
Kohberger promptly confessed to not wearing a seat belt after being informed he was exceeding the speed limit, going 43 mph in a 35 mph zone.
“I’m just being honest with you,” he told the officer, displaying a characteristic blank expression.
The officer, maintaining a polite demeanor, expressed gratitude for the admission but still issued a ticket for the speeding violation.
While the officer processed his information, Kohberger continued to ask somewhat hypothetical questions about seat belt usage and the truthfulness of drivers.
“For future reference, I’m clearly not this person,” he remarked, trying to make sense of his own actions. “Will people lie to you about it?”
The officer noted that Kohberger had not been wearing a seat belt upon approach and emphasized the importance of safety.
This traffic stop occurred along the Pullman Moscow Highway, which links Washington State University’s Pullman campus to the University of Idaho in Moscow.
The white Hyundai has become a significant piece of evidence in the ongoing legal proceedings against Kohberger.
Having pleaded guilty last week, Kohberger is now facing a life sentence, thereby sidestepping a lengthy trial and potential death penalty by admitting to the charges.
