New Hampshire father charged in wife’s murder

Two young children under an Amber Alert in New Hampshire are safe and their father is in custody after police say he shot and killed their mother.

Dustin Mark Duren, 37, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Caitlin Nafziger, New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella said.

Police said Duren is suspected of fatally shooting his wife, Nafziger, on Thursday night at the couple’s apartment in Berlin, New Hampshire.

After Nafziger’s body was discovered, state police issued an hour-long Amber Alert for the couple’s two daughters, Erowyn Dueren, 4, and Vaelin Dueren, 1.

Attorney General Formella said the girls were last seen with their father, Duren, in Berlin, New Hampshire, on Thursday around 8 p.m.

They said Mr. Duren was “possibly armed and dangerous,” but did not provide further details.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, New Hampshire State Police announced that Erowyn and Verin were found safe at an Applebee’s restaurant in Keene, about three hours south of Berlin.

Authorities said Duren was taken into custody without incident at the restaurant.
