New Hampshire ranks highest in pizza across the US, while New York is surprisingly ranked low, according to a new study.

The baby takes a bite of pizza and her reaction is amazing

Baby Remi is just beginning her journey with solid foods, but it seems she might have already found a favorite. A video from her mom, Kaleigh Butler, captures the adorable moment when the little one takes her first nibble, only to follow it up with a big chomp.

Interestingly, New York isn’t the go-to place for pizza in the U.S., and surprisingly, Chicago doesn’t hold that title either. Instead, it appears that New Hampshire has claimed the honor.

This revelation comes from a study conducted by Maine Lobster, which ranked states based on their pizza love. The researchers examined data from Google searches and average pizza prices, evaluating the number of pizzerias available per 100,000 residents along with public interest in pizza.

Maine Lobster noted, “New Hampshire is the ultimate destination for pizza lovers,” emphasizing the state’s appeal in a statement.

The study indicated that New Hampshire boasts 1,022 pizzerias, translating to roughly 72.73 pizzerias for every 100,000 residents — a significant figure among the states analyzed.

Getting into specifics, the state enjoys around 22,512 pizza-related searches for every 100,000 people, and the average price for a pizza is quite reasonable at $15.74. This suggests that pizza lovers in New Hampshire have plenty of delightful, affordable options.

Ohio also ranked well, with about 4,150 pizzerias. The survey showed that Ohio had the highest number of searches related to pizza, with approximately 28,563 searches per 100,000 residents, placing it high in the rankings.

The other states that made the top five are Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Notably, New York found itself at 29th place, which is rather surprising for a state renowned for its pizza.

The following states rounded out the top ten: Kansas, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Indiana. Kansas, in particular, is highlighted as a remarkable destination for pizza, with an average price of $14.96 per pie.

Despite its iconic status, New York’s performance in this study was unexpected, especially given the average pie price of $19.73, making it one of the pricier options in the dataset. It only has about 19 pizzerias per 100,000 residents. The report commented on this paradox, noting that while New York’s cultural influence in the pizza realm is substantial, it doesn’t fully align with its ranking.
