New Jersey sisters speak out after their viral incident with a Frontier employee at a Florida airport.

Sisters Removed from Flight Claim Innocence After Incident

Keira Lyons and Maura Flores, the sisters who were taken off a Frontier Airlines flight and allegedly assaulted an airport worker, maintain that they were not intoxicated and assert that no wrongdoing occurred. The incident led to their brother missing his college graduation.

The pair was removed from a flight headed to New Jersey on May 15 after a trip to Disney World. A flight attendant had claimed they were too drunk to board.

Lyons and Flores both insisted, “I wasn’t drunk when I got on the plane.” They expressed their views in an interview published by Inside Edition.

Lyons, who had played field hockey at Stockton University and has celiac disease, said she felt ill and went to the restroom before the flight. When she returned to her seat, flight attendants approached her and decided she was unfit to fly.

Lyons recalled, “She asked, ‘Are you drinking?’ and I admitted I had a few drinks. Then she said, ‘Yeah, you can’t fly.’” At that point, she requested her sister.

According to the accusations, the sisters allegedly shoved a gate agent, who is said to have fallen while trying to manage the situation as the sisters were being escorted off the plane. The gate agent reported being pushed, leading her to trip, as captured on police body camera footage.

However, the sisters refuted this account, stating they never mentioned the gate agent who reportedly caused the fall.

Witnesses backed the airport staff’s testimony, resulting in the sisters’ arrests and a chaotic scene inside the terminal.

Flores expressed her confusion at the situation, saying, “I didn’t know what was going on. Why are you arresting her?” An officer reportedly responded that there were “more witnesses” against them.

As police questioned Flores, the 31-year-old mother of two began to feel overwhelmed and attempted to intervene on her sister’s behalf, shouting, “Are you kidding me?” while being restrained.

During the arrest, she continued to yell and demanded the officers remove her handcuffs as she was placed in the police car.

The sisters faced charges of battery and disorderly intoxication, leading to their detention for two days.

Tragically, Lyons’ time in jail coincided with the graduation ceremony at Stockton University on May 16. “No, I didn’t make it in time to graduate. I was still in the Orange County Jail while my friends were walking to graduation,” she said, reflecting on the missed milestone.

In their defense, the sisters insisted, “We are not who people think we are.” Eventually, the misdemeanor charges against them were dismissed after they completed pretrial intervention, which included community service and fees.
