New Mexico deputy Alejandro Gomez kills defenseless baby rabbit by throwing it against car: video reveals

In a troubling incident from New Mexico, a sheriff’s aide has been put on leave after a video surfaced showing him throwing a baby bunny against his car. The deputy, identified as Alejandro Gomez, was filmed by fellow officers who were trying to prevent the act.

The footage, captured by other members of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, shows them discovering the rabbit near Hachita last August. It appears they had found the bunny hanging around on a dusty road, and one aide was clearly fond of it.

In the video, one officer can be heard pleading with Gomez not to harm the animal, asking him to promise it wouldn’t be killed. Gomez, however, insisted on taking the rabbit, threatening the aide with a stun gun when he hesitated.

Eventually, Gomez took the rabbit from the aide, looked into the camera, and hurled the defenseless creature against the side of the vehicle, all while others watched.

The situation has drawn significant outrage. The unidentified cameraman laughed during the event, which some critics have described as grotesque.

Gomez has been charged with extreme cruelty to animals and making threats with a deadly weapon. Interestingly, the officer who filmed the incident is still employed alongside Gomez, despite witnessing this disturbing act and not stopping it.
