Joe Biden has doubts about whether Kamala Harris can beat Donald Trump, according to a new report.

Axios reported:

President Biden has been hesitant to abandon his reelection campaign in part because he and senior advisers worry that Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t competent enough to take on President Donald Trump, according to three Biden aides familiar with recent discussions about his plans.

Why it matters: Biden, 81, ultimately decided to back down and endorse Harris under pressure from his party, but his personal misgivings reflect broader doubts among some Democratic leaders about Harris being the nominee in November.

Expand: Vice President Harris’ term has been tumultuous at times, with mass staff turnover, retreat from politically risky responsibilities and ridicule from some administration officials.

Much of Harris’ staff has been replaced over the past three and a half years.

Four leading Democrats have yet to endorse Kamala Harris.

Politico reported:

The four-person committee: The most notable non-endorsements for Harris on Sunday came from the four Democratic leaders who have done more to remove Biden from the campaign trail: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former President Barack Obama.
