Starbucks will allow its next CEO, Brian Niccol, to commute from his home in Southern California and give him the option to fly the company’s corporate jet.
The coffee chain said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that Nicol “is not required to relocate” to Seattle and has agreed to “commute from his home to the company’s headquarters (and undertake other travel)” as necessary to perform his duties and responsibilities.
Nicol, the former Chipotle chief executive, will take over as CEO and chairman of Starbucks on September 9, succeeding Lakshman Narasimhan.

According to the filing, Nicol will also be allowed to use corporate aircraft for “business-related travel in accordance with the company’s travel policy” and “personal travel up to $250,000 per year in accordance with company policies.”
Starbucks told Fox Business that Nicol will use the company’s Seattle headquarters as his main office, working there three days a week when he’s not traveling for work, and that his time in the office will follow the company’s hybrid work policy.
