New surveillance footage shows the moment Karmelo Anthony attacks Austin Metcalf and escapes.

Recently released surveillance footage reveals Carmelo Anthony, a teenage suspect, attempting to escape the scene after fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf.

The footage, made public by Collin County District Court, captures Metcalf and his track teammates from Memorial High School gathered under a yellow tent during a rainy day at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on April 2, 2025.

Initially, the group seemed composed until Anthony, described by witnesses as the instigator of the confrontation, approached them.

The moment of the stabbing was partially visible from above the tent, causing nearby individuals to drop to the floor while the students fled in various directions.

After stabbing Metcalf with a 3.5-inch knife, Anthony was seen exiting the tent and quickly running down the stands, making his way out of the stadium.

The footage shows an unidentified individual briefly pursuing Anthony, but they soon abandoned the chase as he dashed away.

Witnesses recounted how Anthony, a student from Frisco Centennial High School, refused to leave when Metcalf and others from Memorial High urged him to do so.

A 15-year-old present that day noted that Anthony “tried to provoke us.” He reportedly shouted: “Damn it, guys. I have no intention of leaving. You are all assholes” before the stabbing took place.

Subsequent footage depicted Anthony being escorted away in handcuffs after the incident. He was later sentenced to 35 years in prison on June 9.

A disturbing 911 call recorded shortly after the stabbing was released, highlighting the dramatic circumstances. One student could be heard telling the dispatcher, “My friend is bleeding everywhere.”

In the background, a track coach encouraged another student performing CPR, saying, “Fight through! Fight through! You’re doing great.”

Now 19, Anthony was ultimately convicted of murder and received a 35-year prison sentence.
