The feud between Jos Verstappen and Christian Horner could be even worse than originally thought.
The video was released by Sky Sports in Italy. Jos, father of Red Bull Racing F1 star Max Verstappen, and Horner had a heated exchange at Saturday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
Horner is embroiled in a sexting scandal that threatens his role as CEO of the sport’s most powerful team.
The 50-year-old, who is married to Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, is alleged to have sent a series of lewd emails to a female employee.
The WhatsApp messages were leaked to sports figures on Thursday, just hours after Red Bull admitted Horner’s wrongdoing.
Ex-F1 driver Jos was furious over the scandal as threats emerged that Max was about to leave Team Red Bull.
Former F1 driver Jos told the Daily Mail: “The team is on the verge of collapse.”
“We can’t keep going like this. It’s going to explode. He’s playing the victim when he’s the one causing the problem.”
According to the Telegraph, Jos also told a friend that Max would leave the F1 team if Horner remained in power.
Joss is the Daily Mail asked. If he leaked the correspondence from an anonymous email account.
“It makes no sense,” Joss, 51, said. “Why would I do that when Max is doing so well here?”
The Dutch racer has won the last three F1 championships and established himself as the sport’s most dominant driver after years of dominance by Lewis Hamilton.
Despite the drama that has engulfed the team and the sporting world, Horner took part in Saturday’s race alongside Halliwell and took a strong stance, at least in public.
“That’s right. We are a very strong team,” Horner told Sky Sports on Saturday. “We have great support, great partners and major shareholders as well.”
Verstappen won the race in Bahrain, with Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez second.
“Of course there was some unwanted attention and it was never fun, but now the focus is on the car,” Horner said. “My focus is very much on what’s happening on the track, and I think today’s result shows where the focus of the whole team is and we’re moving forward.”
