New York alleged drunk driver John Osetkowski smashes pickup truck into upstate home

A 21-year-old drunk driver crashed his pickup truck into a home in upstate New York early Saturday morning, police said.

John Osetkowski crashed his black full-size Ford pickup truck into a home in Wheatfield, Niagara County, around 2 a.m. According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the scene and rescued Ostekowski and another passenger from the vehicle, both of whom suffered minor injuries, police said.

The homeowner, who was inside the house at the time, was not injured.

However, the home sustained significant structural damage and building inspectors deemed it uninhabitable.

Photos from the scene released by the sheriff’s office showed the truck almost completely inside the home, with wood splinters and debris scattered everywhere.

Police determined Ostedkowski was speeding and ran a stop sign when he crashed into the home.

Osetkowski, of North Tonawanda, was charged with DUI, reckless driving, endangering driving, criminal damage to property and multiple traffic violations.

He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
