Man Charged in Cyclist’s Death During Robbery Flee
A man with a criminal background linked to the incarcerated husband of “Mob Wives” star Drita D’Avanzo has been charged in the death of a cyclist following a robbery in Queens.
Bekim Fiseku, 53, allegedly struck Amanda Severio, a passionate cyclist, while fleeing the scene of the crime. Reports indicate that as Fiseku sped away, Severio attempted to escape on her bike but ended up crashing into a parked BMW.
Surveillance footage reviewed shows the moment of impact, where Amanda, in an attempt to evade Fiseku’s vehicle, was propelled forward after the collision. Authorities decided to halt their chase to assist Severio, who later succumbed to her injuries at Elmhurst Hospital.
Fiseku has been held without bail, facing a murder charge. If convicted, he could receive a sentence of up to 25 years.
At the time of the incident, Fiseku was on supervised release after serving nine years in federal prison for a robbery conspiracy that took place in 2014. His release occurred in February 2023.
Previously, in 2008, he was arrested as part of a group involved in a string of robberies on Staten Island. This group included Lee D’Avanzo, the husband of Drita, who is currently serving a lengthy prison term for a home invasion that involved drugs and weapons in 2020.
D’Avanzo, aged 56, has been incarcerated for over five years following that operation. Fiseku was also known to associate with other members of the Bonanno crime family, participating in high-profile robberies.
These criminal activities were characterized by tactics that allowed them to target bank vaults directly rather than entering the banks themselves, often evading security by accessing underground areas adjacent to the institutions.
Fiseku’s past captures included notable arrests during the “Turkey Shooting Operation” in 2008, underscoring his long history of criminal behavior.
